Data protection
Data protection refers to the protection of the privacy of an individual (data subject).
The appropriate processing of personal data strengthens the rights of the data subject and increases openness and transparency. The objectives of data protection work are to emphasize the right of the individual to control the processing of their own personal data and to bring transparency to the processing of personal data. Personal data are information that can be used to identify a person directly or indirectly, for example by combining individual information with other information that enables identification. A person can be identified, for example, by name, personal identification number or some other characteristic of the person.
According to data protection principles, personal data must be:
- processed lawfully, fairly and transparently from the perspective of the data subject
- processed confidentially and securely collected and processed for a specified, explicit and legitimate purpose
- collected only to the extent necessary in relation to the purposes for which the personal data are processed
- updated whenever necessary – inaccurate and incorrect personal data must be erased or rectified without delay
- kept in a form which permits identification of the data subject only for as long as is necessary for the purposes of the processing
In Päijät-Häme Employment Services, Hollola acts as the employer and is responsible for the operations as a municipality. In the services of Hollola Municipality, your information is well protected and will not be disclosed other than based on statutory obligations.
The personnel of the municipality are regularly trained in the correct handling of personal data and the processing is monitored. The information stored electronically in the registers is protected so that only authorized persons can view it. In addition, each user of the municipality’s information systems accepts a commitment to the use and confidentiality of the information and information systems when receiving access rights.
