There are several different subsidies available to employers for hiring a new employee. Recruitment-related subsidies are linked to the employee being hired and are mainly intended to cover the employee’s salary costs.

Pay subsidy
Wage subsidy is a financial support intended for the employee’s wage costs, which an employer can receive when hiring a person who is unemployed at the time of hiring. Wage subsidy is a discretionary support that can be granted within the available resources, if the job seeker meets certain criteria.
Päijät-Häme Employment Services is responsible for wage subsidy decisions in Asikkala, Hartola, Heinola, Hollola, Iitti, Kärkölä, Orimattila, Padasjoki, and Sysmä.

Municipality benefits
Municipality benefits are benefits paid by municipalities to cover some of the costs of hiring a new employee. The employee must be an unemployed job seeker for the employer to receive municipality benefits.

Summer job vouchers are benefits granted by municipalities to help young people get employed during the summer. The amount and value of the vouchers may vary between municipalities.

Subsidy for arranging working conditions
Employers may be granted subsidy for arranging work conditions, if their employee’s disability or illness requires arrangements in the workplace. These arrangements may be, for example, new working equipment or modifications in the workplace.
